Task summary: Students to draft a business report that details a Blockchain and/or FinTech based opportunity to transform a specific area of organisational operations.

Assignment instructions:  For this task, you must produce an opportunity analysis in the format of a business report.

The analysis must identify a specific organisational process or problem that could be profitably transformed and improved by using a FinTech or Blockchain application.

You should base your answer on a real-world business or industry. (You may choose an organisation from the “for profit” business, public or charity sector. It is important that you choose a specific business process, e.g., accounting procedures, supply chain management, human resource systems, etc., and not the entire organisation, as the basis of your assignment.)  You will need to research the chosen business and industry; it is acceptable to use an organisation that you have worked for.

You should set your answer out in business report style. Note there is no requirement for a conclusion.

The report must cover the following areas:

An introductory section that covers equally:

A concise introduction to the business and industry that it sits in.

An outline and diagnosis of the business problem or process that could be transformed by a Blockchain or Fintech application. (1,000 words) (25 marks) (LOs: 1, 3 & 4)

An outline and discussion of the proposed business solution that equally focuses upon:

An outline of the proposed application including potential usage of cryptocurrencies

    The benefits of the application

(In this section, it is important that you refer to appropriate literature and comparative case examples to support your proposal.  You should consider whether cryptocurrencies can be incorporated into the proposal.)

    (1,500 words)

    (40 marks)

    (LOs: 1, 2 & 3)

    C) An analysis that equally identifies and outlines the potential hurdles to successful implementation and then discusses how they can be overcome. (In this section, it is important that you refer to appropriate literature and comparative case examples to support your answer).

    (500 words)

    (20 marks)

    (LOs: 2 & 4)

A further 15 marks are available for presentation (8 marks) and clarity (7 marks).

  • LO2 Describe key legislation, national and organisational policy of fundamental importance to the health,

LO2 Describe key legislation, national and organisational policy of fundamental importance to the health, care or support service practitioner. Scenario: This task is about exploring law and policy and then applying it to a healthcare practice setting. You are to prepare a clear and succinct leaflet (A4 paper) for inclusion in an induction pack for new healthcare practitioners (for example Care/Support Workers) on how the national government and the structures within, impact on the work of healthcare support workers. The relationship between ethics in practice and national and local structures of governance within which healthcare practitioners operate must be considered.

Activity: You are required to produce a leaflet (A4 paper) explaining the roles of the legislature, the executive and the judiciary in the UK system of government. The leaflet should be word processed and may contain tables, charts and illustrations to emphasise your points. Within the leaflet (A4 paper), you should evaluate the way these elements of the UK system of government shape and effect the provision of healthcare services in your workplace. Finally, the leaflet will explain, at an appropriate point, the key features of legislation, statutory guidance, codes of practice, and national and organisational policy.

You must provide accurate examples of each of these, related to a broad area of healthcare practice. Your leaflet (A4 paper) will provide more specific and evaluative examples (some of which must be drawn from your own experience) of how these operate in terms of ensuring ethical practice, taking into consideration the impact on healthcare practitioners.

Overall, the leaflet should have flow and continuity, and be suitable for inclusion into an induction pack for new assistant healthcare practitioners.

The leaflet should be no more than four sides of A4 paper and can contain a mixture of text and relevant diagrams and illustrations.

This submission will take the form of observation, activity and a reflection of observation of your practice in placement.

LO2 Describe key legislation, national and organisational policy of fundamental importance to the health, care or support service practitioner.

Task: This task requires that you analyse and critically review how specific law, policy and standards regarding equality, safeguarding of service users and health and safety shape and guide ethical practice in your (or other Healthcare) workplace setting. You should give practical examples of this in sufficient detail to demonstrate your understanding of law, policy and professional standards in ethical healthcare practice. (900 words)

LO3 Interpret the law in relation to key ethical and professional Practice Themes in health and social care

Task: To complete this, you are required to identify and observe how legislation, policy and standards regarding equality and safeguarding are implemented in practice, and the challenges practitioners face in carrying out their role ethically and efficiently, whilst ensuring these governing aspects of their practice are adhered to. You need to look at the challenges faced by practitioners in ensuring legislation, policy and professional standards are adhered to when ensuring the fair treatment and safeguarding of service users in their day-to-day tasks. (800 words)

LO4 Apply law and policy in line with regulatory and ethical requirements in a relevant practice setting.

Task: You are required to engage in a workplace that provides healthcare to individuals. As part of your experience, you are required to include notes on the integration and influence of national and international human rights law in terms of the practical ways you are expected to ensure the equal and fair treatment of the individuals you are supporting. Your work should also relate national healthcare legislation and policy to your duties and responsibilities whilst you are providing this support, including your rights as a healthcare worker.

You will focus on reflections on your practice, and that of others. Include:

    • A practical analysis of the impact of equality legislation, policy and the notion of equity on the practice of safeguarding individuals in health, care or support services. Ensure currency and compliance with relevant legislation and national policy through ethical practice, taking into account unwarranted

  • WRI102—Spring 2026 Major Assignment: Non-Academic Argument 15%

    Major Assignment: Non-Academic Argument

    15% of Final Grade

Length: Between 1100-1200 words (about 4-5 pages)

Directions: Using the thesis from your Scholarly Argument, rewrite your argument so that is persuasive to a non-expert audience. Think of your argument as appearing as an editorial on a website or in a magazine. Thus, this paper should adhere to the proper conventions of non-academic writing to fulfill its purpose.

Rely on the same sources from the Scholarly Argument to support your thesis in this essay. Your sources must be properly introduced in a manner expected by a non-expert discourse community who is reading a credible non-academic article. Like the Scholarly Argument, your argument and the intended audience should be at the heart of the essay and each paragraph. Thus, the organization will not necessarily be determined by the sources, but rather by the organizational structure that best supports the your argument.

Consider your intended audience when rewriting your argument. You will need to carefully balance what information the audience needs to know in order to fully understand your argument with how much information and depth they would expect to find in a nonacademic article. This means that you will likely more heavily depend on certain sources, while others may only be used briefly or not at all.

Format: The essay must use standard APA following format with the following exception:

    •   No title page. Instead, your name, date, assignment, and word count should be in the upper left-hand corner of the first page.

    •   Consider whether subheadings would help make your argument more readable for its intended audience.

    •   Spell-check and edit for proper grammar, sentence structure, and clarity

  • offering services to clients.

    Introduction

    Overview

Although there are many different types of service businesses, they all have one thing in common: offering services to clients. With most companies in the United States now involved in a service type industry, service business valuation is an important topic.

    Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

    • Explain the reasons intangible assets need to be valued.
    • Determine the types of business damages that may occur.
    • Identify the valuation issues that may occur in service areas.
    • Write a valuation report.

    Read: Hitchner: Chapters 24 – 29

Company Report: Comprehensive Valuation Report Assignment

  • Determine the protein encoded by the DNA sequence provided below

. (15 pts) (a) Determine the protein encoded by the DNA sequence provided below. Clearly show each step of your reasoning, including transcription and translation.
    (b) Cytosine can undergo deamination, in which its amino group (NH₂) is replaced by an oxygen atom to form uracil. If this mutation occurs, it may alter the corresponding mRNA sequence. Identify which cytosine in the DNA sequence, if mutated to uracil in the resulting mRNA, would have the greatest potential impact on the organism. Support your answer with a clear explanation.

    G-A-A-T-G-T-C-G-C-T-A-A-T-C-T-A-G-C

    2. (20 pts) Histidine can undergo enzyme-catalyzed decarboxylation to form histamine. When histamine is produced in excess, its singly protonated (positively charged) form binds to histamine receptors, triggering the symptoms associated with the common cold and allergic reactions. Chlortrimetron is an antihistamine that binds to histamine receptors but does not activate them in the same way as histamine. However, it is able to cross the blood–brain barrier and interact with receptors in the central nervous system, leading to drowsiness—a well-known side effect of many antihistamines. To minimize this effect, nonsedating antihistamines such as Allegra (fexofenadine) have been developed.

    (a) Rank the basicity of the three nitrogen atoms (N1, N2, and N3) in histamine and justify your ranking.
    (b) Draw the predominant (active) form of histamine that binds to the histamine receptor.
    (c) Draw the form of chlortrimetron that is most likely to bind to the histamine receptor.
    (d) Propose the types of intermolecular interactions involved in ligand binding to the histamine receptor. (e) Identify and explain the structural feature(s) that enable chlortrimetron—but not histamine—to cross the blood–brain barrier.
    (f) Draw the predominant form of fexofenadine at physiological pH. (g) Explain why Allegra (fexofenadine) functions as a nonsedating antihistamine.

    3. (16 pts) The scheme below outlines a method for site-specific labeling of protein P1 at a photocaged tyrosine analog using fluorescein (FLUO). Upon UV irradiation, P1 generates a highly reactive and shortlived intermediate from the photocaged tyrosine. This intermediate rapidly undergoes a Michael addition with reagent 1 in situ, with the reaction proceeding to completion after 10 minutes of UV exposure. In a subsequent step, the modified P1 is coupled with reagent 2 to yield the fluorescein-labeled protein.

    (a) Propose the structures of reagent 1 and reagent 2.
    (b) Draw the structure of the reactive intermediate that undergoes the Michael addition with reagent 1. (c) Explain why the fluorine substituent which is not present in the reactive intermediate is essential for formation of this intermediate. Include structures if helpful.
    (d) Provide a curved-arrow mechanism for the Michael addition described in part (b).

    4. (12 pts) A peptide ligand exhibits strong binding affinity (5.7 nM) for its target receptor, with the Cterminal phenylalanine (Phe) playing a critical role in this interaction. To probe its importance, Phe was systematically replaced with several unnatural amino acids, generating four peptide variants. The binding affinities of these mutants are listed alongside their corresponding amino acids; lower values indicate stronger binding.

    (a) Based on the binding affinity data, what can be inferred about the shape of the receptor’s binding pocket?
    (b) What are the dominant types of nocovalent interactions responsible for ligand binding? Support your reasoning.
    (c) One mutant (containing amino acid D) shows stronger binding than the wild-type peptide. Provide a rationale for this observation.

    5. (14 pts) Scheme 1 illustrates how enzyme E1 catalyzes the formation of two intramolecular disulfide bonds in protein P via a series of thiol–disulfide exchange reactions. Enzyme E2 is proposed to operate through a similar mechanism to rearrange these disulfide bonds.
Using Scheme 1 as a guide, propose detailed stepwise reaction pathways for these rearrangement processes that account for the formation of each of the two isomeric forms of protein P shown in Scheme 2. Your answer should clearly identify all key intermediates and products at each step. Curved-arrow notation is not required.

    6. (23 pts) The scheme below illustrates the design of a molecular beacon (MB) for target DNA detection.
UV absorption spectra of DNA1 and fluorescence emission spectra (excited at 490 nm) of DNA1 and DNA5 are provided. Note that the emission spectra of DNA5 are not relevant to the questions below and may be disregarded.
DNA1 has the sequence: 3′-GTCATRTTGACCGTACGTCAGTTGACTGGTCATOTTGAC-5′, where TR
and TO (highlighted in boxes) are fluorophores positioned within identical base environments in the stem region of the hairpin structure.
Using this information, explain the operating principle of the molecular beacon by answering the following: (a) Assign the color codes corresponding to the UV spectra of the hairpin and duplex forms of DNA1, and justify your choices.
    (b) Determine the excitation and emission maxima (λmax) for both TR and TO.
    (c) Provide spectral evidence supporting the occurrence of Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) in the hairpin form.
    (d) Calculate the FRET energy transfer efficiency for the fluorophore pair in the hairpin. Show all work. (e) Estimate the distances between TR and TO in both the hairpin and duplex forms. Assume the neighboring base-pair spacing of 0.34 nm.
    (f) Using your result from (e), explain why FRET is minimal in the duplex form.
    (g) Determine the sequence of the target DNA (5′ → 3′) shown in the scheme.
    (h) Explain how binding of the target DNA induces the transition from the hairpin to the duplex form.

  • Company Report: Valuation Estimates and Recommendations Assignment Instructions

    Overview

As noted in Chapter 11 of the Hitchner textbook (page 496): “The detailed valuation report is appropriate, as required or requested, when the analyst has been engaged to prepare a comprehensive valuation of a business, an interest in a business, a security, or an intangible asset. The report is the primary work product of the valuation process and should be prepared with objectivity and integrity in accordance with business valuation standards and procedures. It should describe valuation procedures in sufficient detail to enable the intended users to understand the work performed and the conclusion reached. While there is no universal format for reporting on a detailed valuation, there is general consensus on the elements that can be included.”

Hitchner then provides a list that includes, for the most part, what you have completed in the past two Company Report assignments (in particular, items 5, 6, 7, and 8 on page 496) and what you will complete in this assignment (items 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13). Note that this assignment is essentially an application of Chapters 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 to your chosen company (and possibly something from chapters 13 to 31 if any of these special topics apply).

    Instructions

For this assignment, you will conduct a valuation estimate for your chosen company. Your report should include (at a minimum) the following sections:

    1.     Introduction

    2.     Description of the valuation approaches and methods considered (note, unless you have a specific reason why one of the three valuation approaches discussed in Hitcher does not apply to your chosen company, you should apply all of the Hitchner approaches to your company valuation).

    3.     Identification and evaluation of any nonoperating and/or excess assets.

    4.     A risk analysis of your chosen company and an associated discussion of how applicable discounts and premiums (if any – remember, you are “assuming” that your chosen company is private) were computed.

    5.     Application of valuation approaches and methods used for your chosen company (in this, the largest section of the paper, you must completely and clearly demonstrate how you derived a specific value estimate for your company using each approach; thus, you will end up with three values that will most likely not be the same).

    6.     Reconciliation of the three valuation approach estimates (which is most accurate and why).

    7.     For the first time in this assignment, please look up the company’s stock price on the last day of your financial data (for example, if your company’s fiscal year end is June 30 and the last data that you used in your report was June 30, 2020, look up the stock price on June 20, 2020, or the closest trading day to that date). Using that stock price, compute the market value of your chosen company. Compare that value to your reconciliation number. Which is higher? Why? What is your buy/sell recommendation based on this comparison? Why?

For this specific assignment, all relevant data tables should be included in the Appendices. Your tables must be clearly titled/labeled so it is easy to find the tables when they are discussed in the main body of your paper.

    ·       Assignment length: At least 10 pages, double-spaced (excluding title page and references) in current APA format.

    ·       Number of citations: At least 3 (with a minimum of 2 articles per major topic). Remember: any article/source listed in your references must be cited at least once in your paper.

    ·       Accepted sources: Books or other scholarly/professional sources. Remember, Investopedia, Wikipedia, websites, periodicals (e.g., newspapers, magazines, newsletters), and blogs are not scholarly/professional sources. You can use these in your paper (if properly cited), but they do not count towards the required number of citations.
